If you just continue to read and never apply what you are learning you won't get anywhere. Once you have learned what you need to know, and know what you need to do, stop reading, and just do it.
2. Ask questions and follow directions.
Once you find a legitimate work from home opportunity you do not need to reinvent the wheel. There are people either in your business or doing the same type of business as you who will already know what works and what doesn't. Listen to the people who are already successful doing what you want to do. It does you no good to listen to someone who is NOT making money doing what you want to do. You want to listen to the people who are successful. Follow their actions and you too will move toward success. If you have questions ask. There are helpful people around who will help people who are just beginning.
3. Learn how to promote and drive traffic.
This is the part that most new people miss. They think just because you build it they will come and that is far from the truth. You have to promote your site, or business. You can always take advantage of places like forums. If you find a good forum people will be glad to help you with promotion.
4. Lather, Rinse, Repeat.
Once you have the basics in place many legitimate work from home strategies will just need to you to continue doing what you did over and over. What's great about this is you can do the steps on your own time, and when done right they will continue to create you income without having to spend a lot of extra time on them once they are done.
5. Refuse to give up before you reach your goals.
I might also add don't get distracted and start anything else until you reach your goals. If you fail to stop reading you will get sucked in by great sales copy, and think this is "the next best thing" and it will be easy to try that. It is easy to keep getting sucked in to the next best thing over and over. The more things you get involved in the less energy you have to give to any one of them.
Do yourself a favor and forget about trying to tackle more than one thing at a time. Once you find a legitimate work from home strategy, stick to it. It will do you no good to try to add something else, at least not until your first strategy is implemented and working.
